Free help for people in Tarrant County age 60+ who feel depressed
(the most common health problem for older adults)
PEARLS Program - "Program to Encourage Active and Rewarding LiveS"
Contact for more info or to schedule an appointment:
Ms. Leigh Zoller, LMSW, Tel. (817) 569-5633 or email leigh.zoller@unitedwaytarrant.org
The PEARLS Program has no income qualification, but is restricted to people who are at least 60 years old (exception is that a care partner of any age who is caring for someone 60+ is eligible) and who live in Tarrant County. A trained PEARLS counselor is available to visit in the person's home and work with the person one-on-one to overcome depression. A depression assessment is done during the initial visit and the program consists of eight sessions.
Severe/acute cases are referred to a clinical social worker who will work with the person and his/her primary care physician in the rare case where that's necessary.
PEARLS is an evidence-based program that has been proved to be effective, so if you or someone you know needs help to overcome depression (caregiver burnout, lethargy, physical health issues, homebound, etc.), give Leigh a call. This is a good benefit available to any Tarrant County resident.
