In my USPS mailbox today was a flyer that WinCo Foods will soon open (SW corner of Interstate 20 @ Cooper St). They are hiring for lots of different positions. It's my understanding that WinCo pays higher than similar retailers because the corporation is owned by its employees. Benefits look good. When the Fort Worth store opened, I remember reading that the company pays for a pension plan (but I only see 401(k) listed on the flyer, so my memory might be inaccurate about that...maybe it was that the Company contributes to the 401(k) which is still better than many grocery store chains do. More info can be found and you can apply online at www.wincofoods.com .
When the Fort Worth store first opened, I drove over to see it and was impressed with the array of fresh produce, bulk foods, prices, etc. I asked two employees whether it is true that employees are treated well and paid better than other stores because the chain is "owned by the employees." Both gave an enthusiastic "Yes!" answer.
